Armchair Referee

I've got a new line of products over in my Zazzle shop, featuring this design, the Armchair Referee. It's a simple design, yes but I am very happy with the results. So why not get you one or get one as a gift for that sports fan in your life. http://www.zazzle.com/jeff_art/gifts?cg=196445023419043794

Real Vampires Wear Capes

'Tis the season! The Halloween season that is and I've decided to create a spooky new design for my Zazzle shop.  The design is something I've had fluttering around in my noggin for a while. It's inspired a bit by the old Batman logo.

Originally I had some different ideas for what to have it actually say. I was knocking around "Team Bela" for a while as sort of a joke on the "Team Edward" "Team Jacob" thing from the Twilight movies and a referance to Bela Lugosi, who played Dracula. Then, recently, I came up with, "Real vampires wear capes." which I like a lot better. It works as a declaration of love for the classic Dracula movies and that style of vampire, while also still serving as a subtle jab to the Twilight movies and their many blood "sucking" knock offs.

It's available as a T-shirt and a Mug, both available in a bunch of different styles.

Solo: Shipping and Transport

I designed this Star Wars themed T-shirt months ago.  There was once plans for selling this design but those plans have since fallen through. And, unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to sell it in my Zazzle shop or anything like that.  It sort of walks a very thin line between parody and copyright infringement; a line I'm not too comfortable walking. But at least it makes a good portfolio piece and there's nothing stopping me from having it printed for my self if I want. Sucks for you guys!

My Zazzle Product Review

Many months ago I decided to start selling products on Zazzle.com in one of many attempts to make some extra side money with my artwork. Prior to choosing Zazzle I did some research and looked for reviews on many different print on demand websites.  Unfortunately, at the time, there wasn't many reviews for the quality of the products themselves. I mainly wanted to print T-shirts, so it was important to me that the quality of the shirts would compare to screen printed shirts. Out of the very few reviews, Zazzle seemed to get the best for their T-shirt printing.

For many months now I've been uploading and designing T-shirts and other products but I've been a little weary of promoting them since I hadn't actually seen a physically printed item.  So, about a month ago I decided to go ahead and purchase a Coolthulhu T-shirt for myself. And I've got to say it came out pretty good.  The shirt itself is a 100% cotton Haynes tagless tee.  It's pretty thick too which is good because I was a little worried that they would be like flimsy undershirts. I always upload vector files to ensure the image is as crisp and clean as possible and it definitely came out really crisp when printed on the shirt. Overall I'm extremely pleased with the result.

Here is a picture of the printed T-shirt. It's a little dark and grainy because I took it with a cellphone but you get the idea.

In addition to the Coolthulhu shirt, I ordered a morning Power Up mug.  I think mug print on demand technology has been around for a while. Don't they do that in the mall? Regardless the mug is a pretty standard porcelain number and the image comes out pretty clean with all the right colors.  The image appears to be stained right on the surface of the mug too. There's nothing bumping up as if it was another material stuck to the surface.

Over all, I am pleased with Zazzle and will continue selling products on their site. If you are interested in giving me some of your money, you can order many of my products right here: http://zazzle.com/jeff_art

Beef Cake T-shirt

I'm participating in the Woot shirt contest again this week.  This week's theme is "In the kitchen".  I decided to go simple for my design and do a visual interpretation of the term "beef cake".  I'm pretty pleased with it. Hope you like it. You can vote for it right here: http://shirt.woot.com/Derby/Entry.aspx?id=58048

Your Fly Is Down Shirt

I had a little extra time this week so I was able to participate in the Shirt.Woot.com derby.  This week's theme is, awkward situations.  So, I came up with this one involving a fly with his fly down. I'm the cleverest, aren't I?
Here's the link: http://shirt.woot.com/Derby/Entry.aspx?id=57854 . Thanks for your votes!

Dog Shirts

Did a couple of entries for the woot derby this week. I guess I had to make up for not doing one last week. Dog Days is the theme. I did a couple of pop culture references with mine.

I call this one, Dog and Dogger. Vote for it here.

This is called, The Infinite Loop. Vote for it here.

Fishing shirt

Usually on Saturdays I post a Sketch but I don't really have any recent sketches worth posting and I don't feel like going through any older sketchbooks today. So, you get this:

This is another T-shirt I designed recently to be printed by my friend Nick and sold locally. It's not specific to the area so we might end up selling some online too. This is just a sample shirt and ink color but Nick has printed it on a variety of different colored shirts.

Power Up T-shirt

Once again, I have entered the Shirt.Woot derby. This week the theme is, Everyday 8-bit. They want everyday life depicted in an 8-bit video game style.

When I came up with this design, based on the Super Mario one up mushroom, I was pretty excited because I thought I had a winning idea. Apparently, so did a lot of other people. There's multiple designs on there that utilize some variation of a coffee power up. There's one in particular that is really similar to mine, that has made it into the top 9. They don't really attempt to parody Mario with theirs, it's more of a reference . Plus I was kind of trying to parody those Mario 1-up t-shirts specifically by making it green and stuff.

What do you think? If you like it, go give it a vote: http://shirt.woot.com/Derby/Entry.aspx?id=55574

Chemistry T-shirt

Last week I participated in the Shirt.Woot derby with my friend Nick. Even though we barley got any votes I really enjoyed the challenge. So, This week I decided to have a go at it on my own. I think If time permits I will probably be participating in it every week. This week's subject is "chemistry."

Wedding T-shirts

These are some wedding T-shirts that I recently designed.

The main font in this was downloaded from a free font website and I modified it a bit. I exaggerated the curly tails and made them look more like peacock feathers so that it fit with the theme better. I believe the name of the original font was, A Yummy Apology.

Clearlake T-shirt

I've just completed yet another T-shirt design. This is another one that will be sold around my home town area. I've got a few more T-shirts that I want to design both to be sold locally and online. Then I think I'm gonna have to take a break from it for a while unless I get some kind of amazing idea or these shirts start selling like crazy. Whichever comes first. Hopefully it's the part involving money.

This is the original concept sketch.

T-shirt Gauntlet

Next to drawing comics, designing T-shirts is my favorite art related thing to do. So, recently in an attempt to make a little bit of passive income I created some original designs to sell on Zazzle.com. So far I haven't made any money. Maybe it will pick up after my inventory increases. Or maybe Zazzle is not all it's cracked up to be.

These are some of the latest designs I've created. You can Check out all of my designs by going to zazzle.com/jeff_art

You might remember seeing an LOL illustration similar to this on one of my Sketch of The Week posts. I decided that I wanted to use my OMG and LOL images for T-shirts but the LOL needed some improvement. So I redrew it and gave it a more limited color pallet. Get it here!

I did a few variations for this Fat Pride design. The king style for light and dark T-shirts and the chef version for an apron.

This design was inspired by a Sketch I did featuring a parody of the popular Hang In There motivational poster. Be the talk of the town and get your self a shirt or a mug!

Nice T-shirt

You might remember, a couple of months ago I posted a Sketch Of The Week that featured my concept sketch for this very T-shirt design.

Originally my plan was to pay my friend Nick to print this shirt so I could sell a bunch locally at street festivals around my home town of Nice (pronounced "niece" despite it's spelling.) The plans have changed somewhat since Nick has decided to get back into the the t-shirt printing and selling business. He used to just sell various novelty tees on the internet but this time around he decided to steal my idea and start selling souvenir shirts locally. Rather than being angry at the fact that he took my idea, I'm happy about it. This is what I wanted all along. Now I don't have to worry about losing any money I invest in unsold T-shirts. I'll just collect a royalty on every shirt Nick sells that bears my design. Also, Nick is selling the shirts to local businesses thus increasing our potential clientele. Hopefully, come tourist season we will sell the heck out of these shirts and make it worth our while.
